How to make Chilli chicken
Think about it and you will realize that food is what joins all us together; Every region in the world has a distinct flavour and has a cooking style that makes it its own.
Coming to one of my favourite dishes, chilli chicken this is one of the lip smacking dishes that has been originally invented by the Chinese. Who does not love Chinese food, but when we get down to the roots, we Indians have always loved the Indo- Chinese recipes. Indian cooking would be incomplete without all the spices. Indian food is rich in its herbs, contents and strong flavours.
Chilli chicken may be one of the most popular takeaways all over the world. Be it at lunch or at dinner when you are late, this seems to be the most optimal choice. This Chinese dish that is well adapted in India is a great combination with rice or chowmein noodles. Make it at home so that you can moderately adjust the ingredients as per your taste.
Ingredients
1½ lbs. Boneless chicken (This is the preferred choice)
1 tsp Black pepper powder
2tbsp soya sause, 2 tsp tomato ketchup
2 tbsp corn flour
1 Capsicum , 1 Onion
1 egg
8 no.s green chillies
2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
Vegetable oil for frying
Salt as per your taste

Step by step to make Chilli chicken
- Cut the chicken pieces into one inch cubes, Marinate the boneless chicken pieces in 1 tablespoon Soya sauce, salt, egg and 1 tablespoon corn flour , ginger garlic paste, ketchup, for about an hour. If the dish is to be prepared in for short notice then you can marinate for about 30 to 40 minutes.
- Deep fry chicken in hot oil till it is light golden brown.
- For the final dressing, Wok is an integral part of Chinese cooking, this enhances the cooking and if you don’t have one, a karai also will do. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok. Add chopped garlic and chopped green chilies and toss for 15 seconds.
- To this once light brown add capsicum and onion thinly sliced juveniles, sauté them by adding salt and when tender to it add pepper, rest of soya sauce ketchup and see that it is properly coated.
- Add fried chicken pieces and cook for 3 minutes. Stir constantly.
- Garnish with chopped spring onions and green chillies julienne.
